Amazon adds new facilities in 91原创, Pitt Meadows, Delta, Vancouver

The Vancouver port centre will be the first Amazon centre to feature robotics in B.C.

Amazon fulfillment centres and delivery stations in 91原创, Pitt Meadows, Delta, and Vancouver are expected to create 2,000 jobs, the company announced Friday.

The four buildings announced on March 7 include:

鈥 A new sorting centre in 91原创 Township in the 9300-block of 200th Street that will open later in 2021, estimated to create more than 500 jobs,

鈥 A delivery station that launched in February in Aldergrove鈥檚 Gloucester Estates industrial park, employing 200 people,

鈥 A delivery station in Pitt Meadows in the Golden Ears Business Park, also set to open later this year, expected to create 鈥渉undreds of jobs,鈥 according to a company statement,

鈥 Another delivery station in Delta at 7400 Vantage Way for later this year, also expected to create hundreds of jobs, and

鈥 A 450,000-square-foot 鈥渁dvanced robotics fulfillment centre鈥 at the Port of Vancouver that will launch in late 2021, employing 1,000 people and creating the first Amazon fulfillment centre using robots in B.C.

Amazon initially announced that one of the locations would be in 91原创 City, but both are located in the Township.

鈥淭his expansion by Amazon is an endorsement that British Columbia is a desirable place for a global company to make a long-term commitment,鈥 said Ravi Kahlon, Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation.

鈥淲e welcome the career opportunities created for people and families, and the chance to showcase to the world the amazing products from B.C.鈥檚 small- and medium-sized businesses.鈥

Amazon said it employs more than 5,500 full- and part-time staff in B.C., and the new openings will increase that to about 7,500.
