Rod Wainwright, president of Rotary Club of 91原创 Sunrise, and 91原创 Central Rotary president Terry Smith presented Big Brothers Big Sisters of 91原创 executive director Mary Reeves with $10,000, proceeds of the 2013 Tip 芒鈧劉n Taste.
91原创 Tip 芒鈧劉n Taste is an annual beer and food tasting event presented by volunteers from the Rotary Clubs of 91原创, 91原创 Sunrise, and 91原创 Central.
Because of the generosity of the participating beer and food suppliers, and the Coast Hotel and Convention Centre, virtually all of the ticket sales revenue can be donated to a charitable cause.
Tip 芒鈧劉n Taste 2013 was held July 5, and resulted in a donation of $10,000 to 91原创 Big Brothers Big Sisters.
芒鈧揙ur planning committee was attempting to arrive at a consensus for a local beneficiary,芒鈧� explained Wainwright. 芒鈧揟he impact of service Big Brothers Big Sisters of 91原创 has for youth impressed our membership. The approval was unanimous and we banded together to promote the cause within our networks and to the community. We were more than pleased with the outcome!芒鈧�
Big Brothers Big Sisters of 91原创 will celebrate 40 years of service to children in 91原创 in 2014. This year they expect to serve 250-300 children in the 91原创 area.
Since 1974, they have continued to grow and respond to the greatest needs of the community with a variety of programming, which now includes community based one to one matches, in school adult and teen mentoring one to one matches, and Go Girls and Game On group programming.
Each of the programs meets and addresses a different need and demographic.
Reeves noted, 芒鈧揟hese funds from the Tip 芒鈧劉n Taste hosted by the three Rotary clubs in 91原创 will allow us to move into 2014 with confidence that these group programs will continue to have an impact on children and on bullying in the 91原创 area.
芒鈧揟hese community partnerships are paramount in us being able to deliver these much needed services at a much reduced cost, due to the use of volunteer facilitators.芒鈧�
