Ridge Meadows RCMP have located the body of a man who drowned after he fell off his paddle board and did not resurface at Alouette Lake on July 31.

The BC RCMP鈥檚 Underwater Recovery Unit located the man over the long weekend, say police.

At approximately 6:50 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, police received a report from Emergency Health Services of a possible drowning at the lake, in Golden Ears Provincial Park.

There was a large response from first responders with police, firefighters, paramedics, and search and rescue personnel at the park.

Online reports say the man had been with two children at South Beach when he went under the water, but the children are reportedly fine. Police confirmed there was just one victim.

Search and Rescue members conducted grid searches, however they were unsuccessful in initially locating the man. Police used 鈥渙ther specialized resources,鈥 conducting an aerial search, as well as a search of the lake with dive teams.
