The parade route to the 91Ô´´ City Remembrance Day ceremony was shorter this year.

A larger than usual crowd of more than 2,000 people attended the Remembrance Day ceremonies in 91Ô´´ City on Tuesday.

The mood was especially solemn in the wake of the attacks that killed Warrant Officer Patrice Vincent and Corporal Nathan Cirillo last month in separate incidents in Eastern Canada.

There were signs of heightened security along the shortened parade route to the cenotaph in Douglas Park, with what appeared to be more RCMP officers than usual, including a black SUV with officers in body armor observing the crowd.

After two minutes of silence on the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour, wreaths were laid in the memory of the two men and their many fellow soldiers who died before them in service to their country.

There were reports of tight security and bigger-than-normal turnouts for Remembrance Day events across the country, with 50,000 people attending services in Ottawa.
