Pamala-Rose Combs (Township) 芒鈧�� The better question is 芒鈧揳re the anti-bullying policies currently in place effective?芒鈧� There will always be bullies; just as there have always been, and always will be, criminals. We will never rid ourselves of the criminal element. What we need to do is give children the tools to protect themselves and to recover from being bullied. We can stop it when we see it, but bullies are sneaky; give children the power to not be victims.
Megan Dykeman (Township) 芒鈧�� Yes. Policy 7200, 芒鈧揝tudent Anti-Harassment and Anti-Discrimination Policy芒鈧�, focuses on the collective responsibility of all members of the school community to support a positive culture and climate no matter what the type or direction of the harassment, whereas the original regulations were more of a set of guidelines to follow if a concern arose. This policy also has clear and explicit language as well as clear action items associated with achieving this objective, including support for enforcement. As a board, we have continuously reviewed our policies for effectiveness and developed revisions as required to ensure that our objective of providing a safe learning is being met. The policy committee, which I currently chair, develops proposed revisions in close consultation with all concerned stakeholders.
Suzanne Perreault (Township) 芒鈧�� We have just recently witnessed Policy 7200 The Anti Harassment and Anti Discrimination Policy. It passed unanimously. We have observed over many years children being vulnerable and open to bullying and harassment on many levels. This Policy is a great step towards protecting the vulnerable. More work needs to be done, but the foundation has been laid to begin to make strides towards the next steps of implementation and interfacing with the subtlies of abuse using technology, how to combated it and educate all community member芒鈧劉s on the severity of impact of it.
Rod Ross (Township) 芒鈧�� Yes. Again with the updated 7200 Student Harassment Policy芒鈧� a healthy process that is age appropriate will ensure that we act on day to day issues that come up.
David Tod (Township) 芒鈧�� I believe they are being enforced but more can be done to educate all our staff, students and parents and we need greater supports for our at risk students.
