Dumping costs are prohibitive

High costs to dump a small load at transfer station likely lead to increased illegal dumping.

Editor: In regard to your article on (The Times, Apr. 15), I have some current information on cost.  My husband and I took a small box of stuff to the garbage facility just off 96 Avenue, just two weeks ago.

It was not recyclable stuff. It was a small bit of carpet, a piece of vacuum cleaner hose, etc. It fit in a box in the back of our little Bronco II, with room to spare.

The charge was $20. No wonder some people with a pickup truck full of garbage end up dumping it on the side of the road.

I think they are scumbags, but as a pensioner, I know what a dollar means.
