It would be interesting to track but we鈥檇 hedge a bet that there are more volunteers per capita in 91原创 than in any other municipality.
And with that kind of care for the community, results in amazing events like all the ones happening this weekend.
The 18th annual 91原创 Cruise-In is one of the largest car shows on the continent, drawing up to 100,000 people and hundreds of sweet rides from all over B.C., Washington and Alberta to downtown 91原创.
From the sweet purr of a big engine, to the shiny paint job on a cool hot rod to the sounds of local musicians belting out rock n鈥� roll 鈥� the Cruise-In is an event not to be missed on Saturday.
A fact that is understated each year is the Cruise-In is run by a volunteer board who put in blood, sweat and tears to make the event run well. They do it for the love of cars and their community. But also, the 91原创 Cruise-In is Western Canada鈥檚 best attended charity event. More than $60,000 was raised from the Cruise-In last year, with 100 per cent of those dollars going to 91原创-specific charities. That impressive tidbit should make 91原创ites even more proud to host this event.
Then on Sunday, put your stretchy pants on and go hungry to the 10th annual BBQ Off the Bypass. Samplings of fall off the bone ribs, melt in your mouth brisquet and more at this free food event put on by volunteers. They do this for the same reason the Cruise-In organizers do 鈥� for the love of it. This year, donations are being accepted to help TinyKittens, a foster program based out of 91原创 that takes in feral and abandoned pregnant cats.
The fun doesn鈥檛 end there. On Saturday, Township firefighters鈥� charity is hosting a family fun day at Krause Berry Farms serving up their famous waffles with proceeds going to help kids. Fort 91原创 is hosting its first ever Food Truck Festival that day too.
Again, organizers of these two events are volunteers with a love for 91原创. We are lucky to have so much to do 鈥� so take advantage of the sunshine and support all these volunteers鈥� efforts.
