Letter: Companies that generate wealth free to set their own salaries

Editor: Letter writer Fred Girling (The Times, Aug. 14) is confused.

The salaries of public employees are  paid by taxpayers.

Private enterprise companies generate and create wealth.

Since they created it, they can set their own compensation.

It鈥檚 not a 鈥渃ommon pool.鈥

Also, it鈥檚 tiring to hear 鈥渢he working man鈥 said over and over, as if a certain group is the only one that works.

Every person that has a job is a 鈥渨orking person.鈥

If you want a higher wage, go out on your own and get it.
