Editor: The following is an open letter to the Township of 91Ô´´:
I am writing to The Township of 91Ô´´ as a concerned citizen. I live in the neighbourhood of 204 Street and 28 Avenue. I have serious concerns regarding the intersection.
It is currently a two-way stop. I have lived in this neighbourhood for over five years and have personally seen over 10 accidents. I imagine there could be more that happen when I am not home.
The I have seen at this location occurred on May 29. It involved a cube van and a passenger vehicle. It is my understanding that the cube van ran the stop sign and crashed into the other vehicle. I believe the driver of the cube van ended up in the hospital.
I feel that the Township needs to do something to improve the traffic control measures at this location. I see people run the stop sign there all the time – almost every single day, in fact. I believe that if this intersection were a four-way stop or had a flashing amber light installed many of these accidents could be prevented.
I have spoken with several of my neighbours and they have told me that they have been trying for many years to get the Township of 91Ô´´ to do something about this intersection, to no avail.
It is my expectation that this letter will prompt action from The Township to go and have a look at this intersection and do something about this serious issue.
I look forward to seeing a solution to this problem being implemented in a expedited fashion,
Virginia Bale,
91Ô´´ Township
