Letter: Don鈥檛 fall for door-to-door tow truck scam

Editor: Last week a man rang my doorbell, asking could he borrow my phone.

As I went to get my phone, he entered our home unannounced.

He pretended to call a phony number and said he was a neighbour in our complex and needed $38 to get his truck unhooked from a tow truck.

He promised he would return the money within an hour, so I gave him two $20 bills to help him out of a spot, as said he would have to pay the tow truck $200 if not paid.

So, thinking he was a neighbour, I decided I would help him.

Looking back, I should have seen all the signs. I do know better and not be so stupid. It could have been a lot worse.

He was about 35 years old, 5鈥10鈥 tall with black hair and weighed between 160 and 180 pounds. He was wearing jeans and looked like a working man. He was very believable.

I have heard this is his way of getting money all over 91原创, so I wish to let all know 鈥攄on鈥檛 copy me and be fooled.
