Editor: Re: Change in works for deadly 16 Avenue (the Times, April 13).
Finally, the light seems to have gone on in the council offices in 91原创 Township 鈥 16 Avenue needs to be upgraded.
Wow. Where have our elected officials been hiding? A seven-day usage of this road from Highway 13 to Highway 99 will be an eyeopener for any traveler.
From the semitrailers that push the red lights, never slowing down for the yellow, to the late-for-work driver who enters the left turn lane on a red and then goes straight on when it鈥檚 green, passing all vehicles that had stopped for the red.
The word 鈥減lanning鈥 and those responsible for this function in 91原创 Township are best guesses, with little or no apparent experience or knowledge of our roads problems.
If one does not travel 16 Avenue or Highway 13 on a daily basis, they will have no idea of the long-term impacts, road deaths being one of them.
I am hopeful that common sense will prevail and stop-gap measures are not undertaken. It鈥檚 time to bite the bullet and accept the inevitable.
