No transit improvement for 12 years means ‘no’ vote on tax

Editor: I have been living in 91Ô´´ for 15 years. I will have to vote ‘no’ to add a .5 per cent to the sales tax.

As the article in The Times (April 8) pointed out, a train between 91Ô´´ to Surrey at ground level will take 29 minutes.

Why only at ground level?

TransLink had better consider 91Ô´´ in their plan. We should not have to wait 12 years for any thoughts of transit improvements, including 91Ô´´ connections to Surrey.

Delay the construction of the subway in Vancouver servicing West Broadway, and make the priority 91Ô´´ to Surrey.

Overpasses were recently erected in Surrey so that vehicle traffic is not affected by trains crossing.

The same consideration should be given to a transit line along Fraser Highway.

All residents of the Fraser Valley should consider rejection of the proposed referendum, given there has been no clear explanation of the plan for the valley, and that there are no improvements planned in the near future.
