Editor: I鈥檝e just read a particularly heated Eastertime opinion that 鈥淩eligion has been the root cause of almost all of the misery that is human history, and the sooner we can get past it the better.鈥�

Editor: SOGI continues to be a topic of debate in and outside of schools and there are good people on both sides of the debate. On many occasions during the last few weeks, I have been asked if I support SOGI and my answer is always the same 鈥� I do, yes, and I do not.

The Easter long weekend is upon us. Of all the holiday weekends, this is the toughest one to plan for because it never arrives at the same time. Some years it coincides with spring break which is great for parents of school kids. Other years it may be early or later.

Editor: There are several points made in Mr. Nielson鈥檚 arguments ( Letters, the Times , March 21 ) that are mired in assumptions and misinformation, and are almost too many to point out. He overlooks what I know is a very complex issue that requires more study than 300 word essays submitted to the local newspapers.

Editor: At last weekend鈥檚 March For Our Lives I noticed two paradoxes. First was that people were petitioning their government to restrict their rights. I am not surprised, because these are the same people who use their free speech to protest free speech aka hate speech. The second paradox was that in North America we have one political group that wants to restrict access to guns, to protect children, yet they support abortions.

Editor: A reader recently penned a letter to the editor with the warranted complaint that 鈥測oung鈥� cyclists riding on sidewalks threaten pedestrians with their unruly behaviour.
