The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-signed Aldergrove’s Brad Thiessen.
The 26-year-old goaltender inked a one-year two-way contract worth $525,000 at the NHL level.
Thiessen went 23-15-2 with a 2.82 goals against average last season for the AHL’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. In the post-season, he went 6-6 with a 2.14 GAA and a .908 save percentage.
Thiessen made 41 appearances with WBS in 2011/12, going 23-15-2 with a 2.82 goals-against average. Thiessen’s best work came in the postseason, when he went 6-6 while ranking sixth in the AHL with a 2.14 goals-against average and posting a .908 save percentage.
He also made his NHL debut last season with Pittsburgh,
Thiessen played in five games with Pittsburgh, going 3-1-0 with a 3.72 GAA and an .878 save percentage.
In the 2010/11 season, Thiessen led the AHL and set a new team record with 35 wins and seven shutouts. He also had a 1.94 GAA and a .922 save percentage to as the league’s top goalie.
Thiessen was an undrafted free agent out of Northeastern University. Prior to that, he played in the B.C. Hockey League.
