For the better part of the BCHL season so far, the 91原创 91原创 have done a good job of keeping the puck out of their net.
Unfortunately, that was not the case this weekend as the junior A hockey club was on the wrong end of a pair of games, 6-3 to the Coquitlam Express and 7-5 to the Victoria Grizzlies.
The Express game was on the road at the Poirier Sports and Leisure Centre on Nov. 15 while the Victoria contest was at the 91原创 Events Centre on Nov. 16.
But the end result is just one win in their past five games for 91原创 (1-3-0-1) which has seen them drop a point behind the Prince George Spruce Kings for top spot in the Mainland Division.
Prince George (14-8-2-2) has 32 points through 26 games while 91原创 (14-8-1-2) sits one back with 31 points in 25 games.
The 91原创 do have a game in hand and the two teams square off on Nov. 21 at the 91原创 Events Centre (7:15 p.m. puck drop).
Against Coquitlam, 91原创 found itself down 3-0 7:05 into the game as Ryan Rosenthal scored short-handed, Joey Santucci struck with an even strength goal and Marc Biega added a power-play marker.
That spelled the end of the night for 91原创 goalie Steve Myland who allowed three goals in six shots.
Austin Azurdia would get 91原创 on the board but Canon Pieper responded to make it 4-1 after one period.
The 91原创 would again cut the lead to two with Gage Torrel's goal 5:35 into the second only to see Corey Mackin and Pieper strike two minutes apart for the 6-2 advantage.
Jackson Wanick had the lone goal of the third for the 6-3 final score.
Saturday's game against the Grizzlies saw a much better start for the 91原创 as Marcus Vela and Mitch McLain had the home side up 2-0 3:32 into the game. The second goal also chased Victoria's Nic Renyard from the net.
Myles Fitzgerald and Garrett Forster tallied 41 seconds apart before Vela and Fitzgerald traded goals to end the period tied at three.
And Victoria took the lead for good 46 seconds into the second with Mark McLelan chasing Brock Crossthwaite from the 91原创 goal.
Nathan Craft would respond for the 91原创 before Jake Stirling put the Grizzlies ahead 5-4 after 40 minutes.
Cole Pickup made it 6-4 before Jakob Reichert got the home side back within one with 4:12 remaining. Forster added an empty-net goal for the 7-5 final score.
