It is safe to say the 91原创 91原创 broke out of their offensive scoring slump.
In the previous six games, the junior A hockey club had scored just 11 goals, including only two in the past three games.
But on Thursday night (Oct. 24), the 91原创 gave the goal horn quite the workout at the 91原创 Events Centre as they pumped home a dozen goals in a 12-2 rout of the Coquitlam Express.
"I wish I had the answer, but I will take them," said 91原创 coach Bobby Henderson about the goal-scoring explosion.
"Everything was just working pretty well."
The victory improves 91原创 to 10-5-1-1 and their 22 points are good for top spot in the BCHL's Mainland Division.
The 91原创 led 3-0 after one period and really turned things on in the second, scoring four goals on 18 shots in the middle frame for the 7-0 lead.
Henderson said his team came out early and set the tone physically.
"And just rolled from there," he said.
Chris Forney led the way for the 91原创 with three goals and two assists, while Nathan Craft and Tony Bretzman each potted a pair of goals and one assist.
Matt Ustaski chipped in a goal and three helpers.
Mitch McLain, Brendan Gulka, Austin Azurdia and Marcus Vela each had one goal.
Altogether, 14 of the 18 91原创 players registered at least one point.
It was also a historic night for three of the players ad Bretzman, Gulka and Vela all potted their first career BCHL goals.
Gulka is a 91原创 Minor Hockey Association product.
"It is definitely a weight off their shoulders," Henderson said about breaking into the goal column after a quarter of the season.
"Now they can relax and get back to playing their game."
Steve Myland made 25 saves for the win, with only former LMHA product Daniell Lange able to beat him.
Lange struck for a pair of third period goals.
The 91原创 power play went three for six while the penalty kill continued its impressive run, stopping all four Express opportunities.
Up next for the 91原创 is a home game Oct. 26 against the West Kelowna Warriors. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
Children who come in costume will receive free attendance to the game. There will also be an opportunity for those fans to trick-or-treat among the suites on the fourth level of the LEC during the first and second intermissions. The first 250 children also receive a free LEC bag to collect their candy.
The candy is being donated by Sticky's Candy.
