Kodiaks rally to keep winning streak alive

Three third-period goals helps Aldergrove edge Mission City 6-4, pushing win streak to 8 and unbeaten streak to 14

Trailing by one goal with 20 minutes to play — and with their seven-week unbeaten streak in jeopardy — the Aldergrove Kodiaks pumped home three goals in the final period to defeat the Mission City Outlaws 6-4.

The game was played Dec. 5 at the Mission Leisure Centre and the victory was the eighth straight for the junior B hockey club.

They have also not lost in 14 games, going 12-0-2 over a stretch that goes back to the middle of October.

And the victory improved the team to 18-4-0-2 and 38 points, which leads the PJHL's Harold Brittain Conference. They also sit just one back of league-leading Delta — whom the Kodiaks beat 5-4 the night before — and have three games in hand.

Aldergrove had six different goal scorers as Aaron Markin, Jonathan Philley, Spencer Unger, Adam Callegari, Stephen Ryan and Kenny Prato all lit the lamp.

Unger, Callegari, Ryan and Prato all had two-point games.

The Kodiaks led 2-1 after one period before the Outlaws scored three times in the second to take a 4-3 lead.

Aldergrove scored three of its six goals on the power play, including one into the empty net to seal the victory.

Jordan Liem picked up the win, stopping 12 of the 13 shots he faced after replacing Tate Sproxton, who stopped seven of 10 shots.
