Former Blaze ball player hits .429 as Canisius College finishes second at the MAAC Championships

Brooklyn Foster earned all-tournament honours for the Canisius College Golden Griffins.

The former member of the 91原创 Blaze went 6-for-14 over the four games in helping the Golden Griffins finish second at the 2012 MAAC Championships in Troy, New York.

The Golden Griffins fell 3-2 in 11 innings to the Manhattan College Jaspers in the title game on Sunday (May 27).

Foster is a junior catcher on the team and one of three former 91原创 Blaze members on the Canisius College roster. The others are freshman outfielder Mike Krische and pitcher Devon Stewart.

Stewart was named the league's rookie of the year. The right-hander led the team with five wins in conference play and had a  3.95 earned run average in 14 starts. He led all freshman in the conference (who had at least eight starts) in ERA, innings pitched (86.2), starts (14) and strikeouts (53).

Stewart led Canisius with five wins in conference play and has a 3.95 earned run average in 14 starts on the season. The 6-foot-2 righthander led all MAAC freshman starting pitchers (with at least eight starts) in ERA, innings pitched (86.2), starts (14) and strikeouts (53). He also was one of seven MAAC pitchers, and the only freshman, to make 14 starts in 2012.

Foster hit .225 for the season, with two home runs and 21 RBIs as he started 39 games and played in 52.

Krische hit .255 with 11 RBIs in 38 games started and 45 games overall.

The Golden Griffins finished the season with a 33-27 overall record.

All three are playing for the 91原创 Sr. Blaze this summer.
