Experience gained this year will be a good learning tool for down the road for the 91原创 Christian Lightning.
鈥淲e have a very young team, with lots of Grade 8s, 9s and 10s,鈥� said Gregg Antoniuk, the coach of the Lightning senior girls soccer team.
鈥淪o next year, we will be very strong.鈥�
The 91原创 Christian squad fell 3-0 in the Fraser Valley championship final to the Southridge Storm.
鈥淲e played reasonably well in the finals, but just didn鈥檛 get any breaks in the game,鈥� Antoniuk said.
Southridge was the top team in league play, finishing with a 5-1 record. 91原创 Christian was second at 4-2.
And the teams split their head-to-head match-ups. 91原创 Christian won the first game 2-1 but the Storm took game two 7-3.
Despite the loss, the Lightning qualified for the Single A B.C. high school soccer championships.
The tournament runs May 29 to May 31 at Vancouver鈥檚 West Point Grey Academy.
