The margin of victory may have been smaller than in previous weeks, but it was his team鈥檚 effort that really impressed Jeff Alamolhoda.
The Rams (3-0-1) stayed unbeaten in B.C. Junior Football Conference action after a 34-3 win over the Okanagan Sun on Saturday at McLeod Park.
鈥淚t was definitely a hard-fought win, something our guys really wanted to go after,鈥� Alamolhoda said.
鈥淭hey definitely didn鈥檛 take any plays off; they played a full 60 minutes.鈥�
That was a problem the 91原创 coach expressed following a 66-8 win in week three against the Chilliwack Huskers.
Against the Sun, the Rams defence limited Okanagan to two first downs in the first half. For the game, Okanagan managed just 215 yards of total offence. By comparison, the Rams racked up 385 yards 鈥� 197 on the ground and 196 in the air.
Quarterback Greg Bowcott threw another two touchdowns 鈥� Malcolm Williams and Michael Patko were the recipients 鈥� while rushing for one himself.
The other major came courtesy of the defence as Jordan Linnen returned an interception for a touchdown. The defence also had another pick and forced a turnover on downs.
One area of concern for Alamolhoda was penalties as the team picked up flags at crucial times on both sides of the ball, halting promising drives as well as extending a couple of Okanagan possessions. But overall, the coach is happy heading into the league鈥檚 bye week.
鈥淲e showed some strides, we showed that we are starting to come together as a team,鈥� he said.
鈥淲e are trusting each other on the field.鈥�
The Rams next game is Sept. 8 at McLeod Park when they host the 1-3 Kamloops Broncos.
