Spartans' Scottish athletes competing at British Championships

Trinity Western's Emma Nuttall is competing this week at the British Championships.

Two members of the Trinity Western Spartans track and field team will be competing at the 2013 British Championships this week in England.

Emma Nuttall and Hazel Ross, who are both from Scotland, are entered in the competition, which runs July 12 to 14.

Nuttall, in the high jump, is in the championships for a third straight year. She was fourth last year after winning bronze in 2011.

This past season with TWU, Nuttall won the Canada West gold medal, clearing 1.85m and the Canadian Interuniversity Sport silver medal, when she cleared 1.79m. Her personal best is 1.86m.

For Ross, this will be her second appearance at the British Championships.

She is in the 100m and was fifth in her heat at last year's event.

Most recently, Ross, clocked a personal best of 14.10 to finish second in a UK Women's League Division 2 competition in Glasgow, Scotland.

Ross finished fourth at the 2013 Canada West championships in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.73 and then finished seventh at the 2013 CIS championships with a time of 8.77.
