The Orange Team has yet to lose this season and will hope to continue that streak this weekend at the provincial minor (U14) ball hockey championships. The team qualified for provincials after winning the Valley Ball Hockey Association title on June 14.

The Orange Team goes into the provincial championships unbeaten on the season.

The squad won the gold medal with a 3-1 victory over the Boarderjumpers on Saturday (June 14) at the George Preston Recreation Centre.

The two teams were playing in the championship finals of the Valley Ball Hockey Association’s minor (U14) division.

The team could have been in trouble in the final after they took early back-to-back penalties, but clutch goaltending from Connor Morrison kept the game scoreless.

Mike Fleugl scored twice and Ayden Power had the other goal.

Justin Arthur, Dallas Jackson and James Kroeker each had an assist.

The Boarderjumpers’ Steven Rettig broke Morrison’s shutout bid.

The Orange Team went 14-0-2 during the regular season and then 6-0 in the playoffs. In the playoffs, they out-scored their foes by a combined 28-4.

The Orange Team will represent the league at the provincial championships, which run June 20 to June 22 in Victoria.
