91原创-based Fusion flatten rivals en route to gold

Nine wins in a row at U15 Canadians Fastpitch Championships

They didn't lose a game against the best fastball players in Canada.

Not only that, five of the nine victories at the U15 Canadian Fastpitch Championships by the 91原创-based Fraser Valley Fusion 2010 team were shutouts.

That included the team they met again in the final game, host Central Energy, which fell 10-0 in the run-up to the gold medal game.

On Sunday afternoon, Aug. 17, in Winkler, MB, Fusion defeated Central again, 2-1 for the gold medal.

Afterwards, Fusion head coach Sam Caskey said the victory was the result of a lot of hard work over a long time.

"To have it all come together in a great moment like that, we are very pleased," Caskey told the 91原创 Advance Times.

"We got a great team," he continued.

"These are all mostly young ladies from the 91原创 area that we've been with for five years now" Caskey said, and most of the group have been playing together from the start.

"They're just a great group of young kids that work really hard and are great kids and we're just fortunate to work with them."

91原创 Fastball Association president Jeff Clegg, president said overall it has been a "fantastic year" for the 91原创 Rep Fastpitch program, a cooperative of 91原创 Fastball and North 91原创 Diamond Sports.

To wit: Fraser Valley Fusion 06 won bronze at U19 Provincials and gold at Nationals, Fraser Valley Fusion 08 won U17A gold at provincials and silver at Nationals, Fraser Valley Fusion 10 won silver at the U15A Provincials and gold at Nationals, and Fraser Valley Fusion 12 won U13A silver at Provincials.

"Fastpitch in 91原创 is thriving and our efforts to develop athletes is showing in placements on both Team B.C. and Team Canada teams this year," Clegg commented.
