The 91原创 Thunder are trending in the wrong direction.
The senior A lacrosse team lost a third consecutive game, falling 12-10 to the visiting Burnaby Lakers on July 9 at the 91原创 Events Centre.
The loss leaves 91原创 at 6-8 in the Western Lacrosse Association standings while Burnaby improved to 7-5.
The Thunder currently hold down the fourth and final playoff spot with four games to play as they lead fifth-place Coquitlam by two points while New Westminster and Nanaimo are four and five points behind 91原创, respectively. All three teams hold a pair of games in hand.
This is the team's second three-game losing streak as they began winless in their first three games of the season.
Against the Lakers, 91原创 had a great start, jumping out to a 3-0 lead six minutes into the game as Quinn Smith struck twice and Tyler Melnyk had the other goal. But the Lakers rallied back and the first behind finished tied at four.
The Thunder again forged ahead in the second, leading 7-5 and took a one-goal advantage, 8-7, into second intermission.
The Lakers quickly erased the deficit with three goals in the opening two minutes before 91原创's Athan Iannucci and Adam Will struck 29 seconds apart to tie the score at 10.
Burnaby would score twice for the 12-10 final score.
Iannucci finished with a hat trick and one assist while Alex Turner, Will and Smith each had two goals.
Brett Baron chipped in with three assists.
Leading the way for the Lakers was someone familiar with playing in the LEC, as Tyler Digby 鈥� a rookie with the National Lacrosse League's Vancouver Stealth in the winters 鈥� had three goals and two assists in the victory.
The Thunder are back in action when they host the league-leading Victoria Shamrocks (10-1-2) on July 16 at the LEC. Game time is 7 p.m.
