The annual Trinity Western University golf tournament set a new record over the weekend.
The annual event held last week (June 6) raised more than $660,000, surpassing the $3 million mark in its 18 years.
The money raised goes towards student-athlete scholarships and scholarship endowments.
It was held at Coquitlam鈥檚 Westwood Plateau and featured guest speaker Larry Fitzgerald, of the NFL鈥檚 Arizona Cardinals.
鈥淭his was an experience I won鈥檛 forget for a long time,鈥 Fitzgerald said.
鈥淚鈥檝e been truly moved by the people of this university and how passionate [they] are and how committed [they] are to the cause. On every single hole, I was met by young men and women who were engaging, intelligent, passionate about their craft and well-rounded. And as these students continue to move forward, I know the lives [they] touch will be greatly enhanced by [their] hard work and dedication.鈥
鈥淚t has been an unbelievable team effort and a blessing to see this tournament grow over the last 18 years. We are truly thankful for the many corporate sponsors and donors that make this continued growth a reality. It is a real privilege to be a part of something that directly impacts students鈥 lives and helps develop our leaders of tomorrow,鈥 said Steve Scholz, the tournament advisor.
