Trinity Western Spartans cross-country and track and field athlete Alison Jackson is off to Uganda where she will represent Canada at the 2014 world university cross-country championships.
She qualified for the event by finishing fifth at the 2013 Canadian Interuniversity Sport cross-country championships in the fall. She also won Canada West gold as the top finisher in the conference.
鈥淚鈥檓 thrilled to represent both Canada and Trinity Western,鈥 said Jackson. 鈥淔or me, athletic-wise, it鈥檚 been a gift from God that my efforts can translate into a spot on this team. That doesn鈥檛 happen for everyone but my success has come because of just continuing to push myself and train hard every day.
鈥淲e鈥檝e seen Alison make great strides since coming to TWU and that鈥檚 because she has a little bit of talent and a whole lot of hard work,鈥 said Spartans coach Laurier Primeau.
When you combine those two things, performances elevate and that鈥檚 what she has done over the last three years.鈥
The championships are being held on March 22 in Entebbe, Uganda.
