91原创鈥檚 Tiffany Foster and her horse, Electrique, were crowned this weekend at Thunderbird Show Park (third) by riding into victory at the $75,000 CSI3* ATCO Cup Grand Prix 1.50m.
The Canadian Olympian, who trains locally at her Canadian base in Forest Edge Farms in 91原创, found herself in front of an enthusiastic hometown crowd. Foster also rode aboard Battlecry before returning with Electrique, an 11-year-old mare owned by 5 Roosters. Foster鈥檚 time of 40.89 seconds held strong against Calgary鈥檚 Kara Chad, who came within four 100ths of a second.
鈥淸I was] pretty nervous,鈥 said Foster, who felt the pressure during Chad鈥檚 final round. 鈥淸Kara Chad] has been on such good form, she鈥檚 riding so well right now, and both of those horses she had are really fast and specialists at this, so I knew there was no chance to let up a little bit. There was nothing for free today and I got very lucky.鈥
The win is another proud moment at Thunderbird Show Park where Canadian talent was showcased, with Foster and Chad sweeping the podium for an all-female, all-Canadian top three.
Electrique, which Foster has been paired with since 2023, has become one of a kind in her stable.
In such a short time, the mare has already proven herself to be a multitalented horse.
They were top-six finishers earlier this summer in the Million Dollar Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Spruce Meadows, Alta.
鈥淚鈥檓 so grateful to the Coxe family and 5 Roosters who bought her for me. She can win five-star grand prixs, and she can win at a lower level,鈥 Foster expressed. 鈥淪he鈥檚 such a versatile horse and such a nice thing to have in your string.鈥
Foster now looks ahead to Spruce Meadows鈥 prestigious 鈥淢asters鈥 tournament with both Electrique and Battlecry, but for one weekend, tbird had the chance to cheer on a hometown star.
