After helping their team advance all the way to the national championship semifinals, a pair of rookie hockey players have been sent packing.
91原创's Kevan Kilistoff and Jordan Klimek were traded away from the B.C. Hockey League champion Surrey Eagles on May 23, completing deals the junior A hockey club had made during the regular season.
Kilistoff won't be doing far as he joins the 91原创 91原创 to complete the multi-team trade the Eagles had made with Cowichan Valley to pick up Troy Paterson.
Kilistoff was informed of the move during his exit interview with Surrey on May 23.
"I did not see it coming, that is for sure," he said.
"At first I had mixed feelings about it because I had such a good time with Surrey. But at the same time, I was happy to go closer to home and play in 91原创."
Kilistoff is a six-foot 190-pounder who can play any position up front and in all situations.
91原创 coach and general manager Bobby Henderson anticipates his latest acquisition will have a big role on the team next season.
"He is a playmaking forward (who) has really good speed and a knack for the net and we expect his numbers to increase with us."
Klimek joins the Vernon Vipers, as does North Delta's Demico Hannoun. They were part of the trade which landed Adam Tambellini.
"It's a tough day as a coach and general manager when you have to part with three quality young men that all have bright futures in the game," said Surrey head coach and general manager Matt Erhart.
"In order for the Eagles to push though and capture the Fred Page Cup and Western Canada Cups, we felt the moves were necessary at the time the trades were made."
Klimek, a defenceman, had six goals and 17 assists in 52 regular season games with Surrey. Four of his goals were game-winners.
He turns 18 in August and is committed to Northern Michigan for the 2014/15 season.
Kilistoff, an 18-year-old rookie forward, had 17 points in 52 regular season games.

This was just one of the recent moves involving the 91原创 hockey club in the past few weeks.
On May 22, the 91原创 announced the commitment of forward Brendon Kearney, who should provide a boon in the goal-scoring department.
The 18-year-old winger from Northville, Mich. was the captain for Detroit Honeybaked and scored 24 goals and 49 assists in 62 games.
"I feel I can really make plays in the offensive zone and score when needed, but at the same time it does not take away from my defensive game," he said.
"Brendon is a very solid all-around player that brings an outstanding compete level," said Henderson.
"He has a nice skill set and a good mind for the game and has shown he can put up good numbers.
"We know we are getting a leader and a dependable player and we see him helping our team in every aspect."
They also announced the signing of 16-year-old forward Marcus Vela of Burnaby.
He is a six-foot-one 185-pounder who projects to be a power forward and impressed the team's coaching staff at the 91原创 prospects camp earlier in the spring.
"I like to use my size out on the ice, whether that is taking the puck hard to the net or dumping it in and working hard to get it out of the corner.
"However, I take care of my own end first and foremost before I worry about offence."
91原创 assistant coach Kurt Astle has followed Vela through his progression with the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association.
"He brings a physical presence to every shift along with an ability to be a playmaker," he said.
"He is mature beyond his years on and off the ice and look for him to turn a lot of heads."
