The electronic sign that kept score for BC Lions football and Vancouver Whitecaps soccer games during the 2010-2011 season will be installed at McLeod Athletic Park.
91原创 Township have told staff to close a deal that would purchase the video display sign used at the temporary stadium which was built at Empire Field, next to the Pacific National Exhibition in Vancouver.
The vote at the Monday May 6 meeting was unanimous.
The temporary stadium was built so the teams would have a place to play while a new retractable roof was being installed at BC Place stadium.
A final price hasn鈥檛 been settled on, but staff have told council that the deal can be done for somewhere between $65,000 and $100,000 which is significantly lower than the estimated $138,000 it would cost to buy one new.
Some of the cost will covered by donations from a group of contributors who include the British Columbia Community Football Association, 91原创 Minor Football Association, 91原创 Rams Jr. Football Club (AKA the Big Kahuna Sport Company), 91原创 United Soccer Association and North 91原创 Football Association.
The sign is also expected to generate revenue from advertising, similar to the electronic displays at 91原创 Events Centre.
