Vancouver FC has now gone more than a year without a win on home turf, following their 3-2 loss against Pacific FC at Willoughby Community Park on Sunday.
Their last win was against Pacific on August 11, 2024.
"It's been a difficult year for them," said Vancouver FC interim head coach Martin Nash.
"I'm coming in fresh, and I can't get frustrated. I've gotta just keep working to try and make them better as individuals and as a team. I thought we've shown good moments in [the last three games]. We don't deserve only three points, but we've got to learn to take our chances and stop gifting goals. It wasn't an effort problem. It was just about moments, because we just can't give up certain goals in those moments."
For Pacific, the 91原创 victory was their second in a row, their first back-to-back wins of the season, and it put them within seven points of the fifth and final playoff spot, while Vancouver now sits 14 points adrift of that fifth spot, down in eighth place.
Shortly after the first water break of the match, Vancouver scored after a hopeful cross into the box from Vasco Fry, Pacific would fail to clear it, and Hugo Mbongue did well to pick up that loose ball and cross it to a wide-open Thierno Bah, who slotted home from close range to make it 1-0.
Pacific found the equalizer right before the break. Vancouver's David Norman Jr. was judged to have fouled Eric Lajeunesse, giving Pacific a penalty, one that Alejandro D铆az easily slotted home in his first game back against his old club.
Just moments into the second half, Dario Zanatta made a dangerous run down the left-hand side and squared the ball to Heard, who did well to adjust his feet and glance the ball into the bottom corner to put the visitors up 2-1.
Immediately following that goal, Bah made a run down the right-hand side and crossed the ball towards Path茅 Ndiaye, and he slotted the ball into the goal to tie the game up at 2-2.
Pacific regained the lead, when Zanatta found a wide-open D铆az, who slotted home with a cool finish to make it 3-2 with his 41st ever CPL goal, which also pushed him ahead of Vancouver's Terran Campbell for first place on the league's all-time list in the process.
