An Oliver winery's hospitality manager has received province-wide recognition.
Janik Livera of Maverick Estate Winery is one of three finalists in the leadership category for the BC Food and Beverage 2025 Rise Awards.
Livera is joined by Jasmine Byrne of Vancouver's Big Mountain Food and Dionne Laslo-Baker from Victoria-based DeeBee's Organic as the nominees.
"(Livera's) management and staff training have fostered a culture of excellence and inclusivity, supporting the winery鈥檚 growth to nearly $1 million annually in direct-to-consumer revenue," BC Food and Beverage wrote about the Oliver manager on Aug. 20.
He also teaches at Okanagan College and "co-develops programs to prepare students for careers in the beverage industry," it added.
The BC Food and Beverage Rise Awards recognize businesses, leaders, and entrepreneurs across the province annually. Other categories include sustainability, social impact, innovation, and Women Entrepreneur of the Year.
Public voting takes place from Sept. 9 to 23, with the awards ceremony itself expected in November.
Maverick Estate Winery is located halfway between Oliver and Osoyoos, at 3974 Highway 97.
