MOTHER’S DAY: 91Ô­´´, how will you treat that special mom?

Here’s some events to consider and be sure to enter our online contest.

Looking for a traditional and non-traditional way to honour that special woman for Mother’s Day? Here are some upcoming events to consider.

• Bradner Mother’s Day Breakfast: The annual breakfast at Jubilee Hall, 7989 Bradner Rd., runs 8 a.m. to noon on May 13. Breakfast (sausages, ham, scrambled eggs, fruit cocktail, juice/tea or coffee, and all-you-can-eat pancakes) is $6 with children six and younger eating free. This is a tradition for the past 44 years.

• Singing Down Memory Lane: The 91Ô­´´ Community Chorus performs songs from Brahmns to the Beatles in a 3 p.m. show on Saturday, May 5, in the Willoughby Reformed Church, and a May 13 show at 3 p.m. show in the Sharon United Church. Tickets and information are at www.langleyhorus.org.

• A Glorious Thing: The Gloria Dei Chorale show is at 7:30 p.n. on Saturday, May 12 in the Willoughby Christian Reformed Church. Tickets at the door or eventbrite.ca.

• The Ties that Bind: The 91Ô­´´ Quilters’ Guild fills the George Preston Recreation Centre with more than 300 amazing quilts, other fabric arts, vendors, a tea room, raffles, and more. Admission is $6. The show runs 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 11 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 12.

• 91Ô­´´ Hospital Museum Tea: The museum is housed in Michaud House and the team runs 1:30 to 4 p.m. on May 12. The event is also a booksigning for local author Jim McGregor. Info: do_ried@telus.net.

• Spring recital: The 91Ô­´´ Ukelele Ensemble performs May 12 at the South 91Ô­´´ Church, 20098 22nd Ave. starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 each, and available by contacting 604-340-UKES, boxoffice@langleyukes.com or langleyukes.com.

• Fort 91Ô­´´ Kayak Club open house: Take to the water, supervised. The club has a try-it day May 12 at the dock in Fort 91Ô­´´. The club provides the equipment and instruction. There’s no need to sign up in advance and the event goes rain or shine. Info: fortcanoekayak.ca.

• Walnut Grove Petal Pushers Plants and Garage Sale: From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 12, stop by 9489 205A St. to pick up perennials, tomato and herb pants, and household items for sale.

• Fraser Valley Invitational: The 91Ô­´´ Camera Club hosts the annual photography competition. Public viewing starts at 6:30 p.m. on May 12 in Clayton Heights Secondary, 7003 188th St. $20 at the door or $18 in advance (www.langleycameraclub.com).

• Kick the Clutter: The Muriel Arnason Library has a decluttering workshop at 4 p.m. on May 16. Though it’s free, people are asked to sign up in advance by contacting the library at 604-532-3590.
