One possible mayoral challenger in 91原创 City is out, while one in the Township is still waiting to make an announcement.
In 91原创 City, Randy Caine is still running for council after the entry of former mayor and provincial Liberal MLA Peter Fassbender to the race.
Caine, owner of Hempyz and a previous contender for both mayor and council in 91原创 City, had said he would consider running against Fassbender.
鈥淚 think I鈥檇 rather sit next to him as a councillor and keep him in line,鈥 Caine said.
He spoke positively of the only other mayoral candidate, Val van den Broek, a City councillor and former Community Police Office coordinator.
City Councillor Paul Albrecht had announced a run for mayor, but moved back to running for council after Fassbender announced his candidacy.
In 91原创 Township, Eric Woodward is still considering whether or not he will run for mayor.
鈥淚 would expect to have an announcement in early September,鈥 Woodward said.
With Woodward still considering a run, there is only one candidate currently declared for the Township mayoral race 鈥 incumbent Mayor Jack Froese.
Longtime 91原创 Township Councillor Kim Richter had announced earlier in the year that she would be running for mayor, but she withdrew from that race last week.
Richter now says she will run for council again.
