91原创 organizations and parent advisory councils will benefit from a recent grant of $450,080.
The funding comes from the Community Gaming Grant program鈥檚 arts and culture stream, and the parent advisory council (PAC) and district parent advisory council (DPAC) stream.
Andrew Mercier, MLA for 91原创, said stable funding like this helps community organizations.
鈥91原创 is full of creative people, and it鈥檚 great that so many local organizations can help people foster that creativity,鈥 he said.
Some local organizations receiving funding include:
- 91原创 Community Music School (LCMS) - $55,000
- Canadian Museum of Flight Association - $30,000
- Fort 91原创 Jazz & Arts Festival Society - $15,000
91原创-East MLA Megan Dykeman noted the work PACs put into overseeing students鈥 school experience.
鈥淟ocal PACs put a lot of care and thought into how to enhance student鈥檚 education and experience at school. Parents know the needs of their children best and our government is happy to support them,鈥 she said.
Some PACs receiving funding include:
- R.E. Mountain Secondary PAC - $41,960
- 91原创 Secondary PAC - $19,060
- 91原创 Meadows Community - $9,080
PACs generally use grants to pay for equipment and costs associated with extracurricular activities like sports, performances, movie nights, dances, and field trips, among other things.
More than $18.2 million in new funding is slated to go towards more than 650 organizations to support arts and culture across B.C.
Additionally, more than 1,300 PACs and DPACs will also receive $11.2 million to support extracurricular activities throughout the province.
