A fire that heavily damaged a house in Brookswood on Thursday evening took several 91原创 Township firefighting crews to bring under control.
The fire broke out in a two-storey home in the area of 205B Street and 40 Avenue, with multiple calls to 9-1-1 at around 8:50 p.m., said assistant Township fire chief Dale Steeple.
"No one was home at the time," Steeple said, and there were no pets in the house.
The first fire crews on scene attacked the fire rapidly, managed to temporarily knock it down, and entered the home.
The fire flared up again and they had to retreat, and douse the fire from outside again. They managed to re-enter and completely douse the flames.
The house suffered major damage, and an RV in the driveway may have also been affected.
Full time firefighters from Murrayville and Willoughby fire halls responded, as well as paid-on-call firefighters from Brookswood and Murrayville, Steeple said.
Although it was a large fire, firefighters managed to completely extinguish it in about two hours.
Locals heard a loud boom just before the fire was noticed, and investigators were trying to determine the cause on Friday morning.
A resident in the area was told that the family was away at the time but was being called to let them know about the fire.
