Rob Wilton's bike helmet was examined after a crash in 91Ô´´.

91Ô´´ photographer Rob Wilton was injured when his motorcycle was rear-ended at a busy intersection on Wednesday, July 23.

Wilton said he was on his way home and heading north on 216 Street at Fraser Highway, and had been waiting at a red light. When the light turned green, he started forward, but was almost immediately hit by a vehicle from behind.

Wilton fell off his bike as he slid into the intersection.

"I thought, 'Jeez, I hope nobody runs me over,'" Wilton said.

He managed to roll over and turn off the ignition on his bike.

Although Wilton has no broken bones from the collision, he said he's been nauseous and sore ever since, and the medical professionals he's seen suspect he has a concussion and whiplash.

Wilton's bike – he's had it for just three months – also suffered a fair bit of damage.

"There's probably thousands in damage on it," he said.

The last time he was seriously hurt was 15 years ago, when he broke a collarbone. He was riding on oil-slick pavement and his bike slid out from under him when he hit the brakes, he said.

He was not sure if the driver who hit him got a ticket, but Wilton said he was fortunate that an off-duty firefighter and an RCMP officer were nearby after the collision.
