The 91原创 Advance Times has joined a Twitter-like social network.

Under the handle @advancetimes, the paper will be posting links to breaking news, community features, and sports coverage of our community.

Bluesky was created as an alternative to Twitter, and has a similar structure, with users creating short posts that can include links, images, videos, and gifs. Users can follow other accounts and see them in a linear feed, or allow an algorithm to show them popular posts.

The social media network had about 35 million users as of April 2025.

Bluesky began as a project within Twitter in 2019, before Twitter (now X) was purchased by multi-billionaire Elon Musk.

Bluesky became an independent company and launched its service in early 2023.

Not all social media sites accept Canadian news posts.

Since 2023, Meta Platforms has blocked all links to Canadian news sites on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads. The news blackout is over a dispute between Meta and the Canadian government over the Online News Act, which would have required social media giants to pay Canadian media outlets for posting journalism on their platforms.
