91原创 City鈥檚 first-ever film festival is right around the corner

91原创 City鈥檚 first-ever film festival is around the corner, happening next weekend from Oct. 21 to 22.

The festival is hosted by the City鈥檚 arts, recreation, culture, and heritage (ARCH) committee.

Rosemary Wallace, ARCH chair and city councillor, said the theme 鈥渢ransitions鈥 was chosen in light of recent events happening around the world.

鈥淒ue to recent events, we can all relate to this idea of 鈥榯ransitions鈥 in one way or another. Let鈥檚 take this opportunity to connect with our community and one another on a deeper level of experience and understanding through film,鈥 she said.

Wallace encourages 91原创 residents and visitors to see the festival.

鈥淥ur film festival showcases emerging and established B.C. filmmakers, offering a curated selection of thought-provoking, entertaining, and visually stunning films,鈥 she said.

Screening schedule:

Saturday, Oct. 21.

- Youth Films: Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Admission is $5.

- 19+ Feature Length Films: Doors open at 4 p.m. Admission is $15.

Sunday, Oct. 22.

- 19+ Stock Films: Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Admission is $15.

- 19+ Short Films: Doors open at 2 p.m. Admission is $15.

Weekend passes that include entry to all films are $45, and can be bought online at .

Each screening will also include an award presentation and a filmmaker鈥檚 panel of the winning film.

The three jurors for the festival will be Christine Stewart, Eli Hirtle, and Maureen Levitt.

The City encourages guests to arrive early as there is no designated seating for the event.

The festival takes place at Lumiere Film Studios, located at 20329 Logan Ave.

Parking is available near the studio or at Timms Community Centre on Douglas Crescent.
