West Vancouver's Christa Bortignon competes in the women's 75-79 long jump competition at McLeod Athletic Park on Wednesday, the first day of the 2014 B.C. Seniors Games being held in 91原创. The Games run until Saturday with close to 4,000 seniors from around the province taking part in the annual competition. The opening ceremonies are set for tonight (Sept. 10) at the 91原创 Events Centre, beginning at 7 p.m.

The wait is over and let the Games begin.

After three years of preparation, the 91原创 2014 B.C. Seniors Games have kicked off as a record number of participants will be going for gold.

Close to 4,000 participants, ages 55 and up from all across the province, will be competing in 25 different sports at venues across the Township and the City.

There are also close to 1,200 volunteers.

The competition begins daily at 8 a.m. starting Wednesday (Sept. 10)  and going through until Sunday. Events go until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, 7 p.m. both Thursday and Friday, and 1 p.m. on Saturday.

The opening ceremonies are from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the 91原创 Events Centre. Closing ceremonies are Saturday at the 91原创 Regional Airport.
