Letters: Harper's new Canada opens internet to abuses

Dear Editor,

With all of the rights and freedoms of Canadian citizenship being eroded by the 芒鈧揌arper Government,芒鈧 now they wish to have legislation in place to monitor anyone芒鈧劉s online activities, without the requirement of a warrant and without any oversight whatsoever.

That would make anyone with an internet connection vulnerable to the misuse and abuse of the new level of 芒鈧揼uilty until proven innocent芒鈧 laws in Canada.

The 芒鈧搚ou芒鈧劉re with us or with the pedophiles芒鈧 rhetoric is strictly from the American Republican playbook of dirty tricks, under fear mongering.

By pushing this legislation along with the new loosey-goosey definition of terrorist (someone who is mentally ill or who commits a hit-and-run), we are all at risk of saying the wrong thing at the wrong time and ending up on a government watch list.

When Mr. Harper was sworn in as Prime Minister he said, 芒鈧揧ou won芒鈧劉t recognize Canada when I芒鈧劉m through.芒鈧 He芒鈧劉s not done yet, and already, I don芒鈧劉t recognize it now.

I encourage Canadians to learn more about how we can work together to safeguard our privacy at OurPrivacy.ca.
