The 91原创 Fundamental Titans have reached the summit of their Grade 8/9 boys soccer season.
The program鈥檚 first ever Fraser Valley championship victory last Thursday afternoon over the Fleetwood Park Dragons caps a season that saw the Titans only lose once all year.
鈥淭his is it,鈥 Titans coach Peter Ladefoged said. 鈥淭his is as far as they can go.鈥
The road to Valley gold was paved with a few challenges 鈥 arguably the biggest of which came from the Dragons, who the Titans edged 4-3 in penalty kicks in the Nov. 9 finale at Coquitlam Town Centre.

While the Titans also needed penalty kicks to get by Surrey鈥檚 Queen Elizabeth Royals by a 3-2 score in the Valley quarter-final on Nov. 2, Ladefoged said the Dragons presented the stiffest test of the season.
鈥淲e lost one game this year, but this was the toughest team we played,鈥 Ladefoged said.

Aaron Schurch scored the Titans鈥 second and third goals of regulation time, as well as the penalty winner.
Morgan Beddow opened the scoring for 91原创 Fundamental.
The Dragons rallied with two unanswered goals, including one off what Ladefoged described as a 鈥渃ontroversial penalty鈥 to take a 2-1 lead.
Schurch scored two goals in rapid succession but the Dragons tied the game late to take it into extra time.
Neither team could find the net in extra time so the Valley championship was decided by penalty kicks.
Ladefoged thought the Titans had a 鈥減retty good chance鈥 at winning the 91原创 district championship 鈥渂ut we really weren鈥檛 sure what we were going to face in the (Fraser Valleys).鈥
Tayler Roxburgh was solid in goal for the Titans in the Fraser Valley gold medal game.
鈥淗e saved two penalties in the shootout and he also scored a goal (in the shootout),鈥 Ladefoged said.
Roxburgh not only played goal at times, he was 91原创 Fundamental鈥檚 top scorer during the season.
鈥淗e played both,鈥 Ladefoged said, about Roxburgh.
鈥淲e struggled this year with goalkeeping.
鈥淲e didn鈥檛 have anybody who had played regularly in goal.鈥
