Junior Thunder come up short against league-leaders

91原创 plays Coquitlam tough, but falls 9-7 in B.C. junior A lacrosse action

The 91原创 Junior Thunder came close to pulling off a monumental upset, but fell a couple of goals short, losing 9-7 to the league-leading Coquitlam Junior Adanacs.

The game was played at the Coquitlam Sports Centre.

The Thunder were looking for a second consecutive victory after edging the Port Coquitlam Saints on 10-9 on May 23 at the PoCo Rec Centre.

The results leave 91原创 with a 2-8 record in the B.C. Junior A Lacrosse League.

91原创 played Coquitlam even for much of the game but the difference was the second period where the Adanacs outscored the Thunder by a pair of goals.

James Rahe led 91原创 with four goals and an assist while Bryce Brochu and Brendan Mykle-Winkler had four assists apiece.

Duston Doudelet (two goals, one assist) and Brett Dobray (one goal, one assist) had the other tallies.

Steven Mayervich made 41 saves in a losing cause.

In the victory over the Saints, Brochu snapped home the winner with 2:21 to play.

It was his second goal and fifth point of the game,

Mykle-Winkler and Doudelet both had two goals and an assist while Rahe and Brett Dobray had a goal and two helpers apiece.

Dylan Lacroix had the other 91原创 score.

Jordan Monk finished with 25 saves for the win.

91原创 hosts the Burnaby Junior Lakers on May 29 at the 91原创 Events Centre. Game time is 8 p.m.
