World Cup show jumping returned to 91原创鈥檚 Thunderbird Show Park last week as the facility welcomed competitors from around the world to their 41st season opener, The Canadian Premiere.
And on Sunday, it was a Canadian who triumphed in the $25,000 International Gems Grand Prix as 91原创鈥檚 Brian Morton held the lead for all but two rounds in a packed field of riders representing five nations.
After six years together, Morton and his 17 year-old Selle Francais gelding continue to deliver.
鈥淚 think he鈥檚 as good as he鈥檚 ever been, I just have to manage him and what shows we go to,鈥 explained Morton. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 one of the things that is wonderful about Thunderbird, the footing is so good that it鈥檚 an easy place to jump an older horse 鈥 and Spitfire has had a lot of great results here because of that.鈥
