There was no stopping the Selkirk Saints.
The top team in the B.C. Intercollegiate Hockey League, the Saints defeated the Trinity Western Spartans 2-0 in the best-of-three league championship series.
Both games were held at the Castlegar Recreation Complex.
The Saints won game one 6-1 on Friday and then wrapped things up on Saturday with a 5-1 victory.
In both games, Trinity Western fell behind 3-0 in the first period.
In game two, the Spartans took the first three penalties, and after killing the first, surrendered a pair of goals.
"It was really difficult to get any flow going at that point," said Spartans coach Barret Kropf. "We were chasing the rest of the game (but) I thought our guys competed well."
"They didn't stop and they kept playing physical and they made Selkirk earn the championship," he added.
"We battled to the final whistle, so I'm pretty proud of the boys for the way they finished."
Blair Murphy had the lone goal in game two, while Selkirk was led by a pair from Jackson Garrett. Markus McCrea, Logan Proulx and Connor McLaughlin had the others.
The McLaughlin goal was a back-breaker as it came short-handed and after the Spartans had cut the lead to 3-1 and were gaining momentum.
The Saints out-shot the Spartans 43-16 in the second game and 88-41 for the series.
In game one, Grange Gordon had the lone goal for Trinity Western.
Selkirk was led by a hat trick from Beau Taylor and singles from Thomas Hardy, Darnell Dyck and Stefan Virtanen.
