Thunder get revenge for lopsided loss

Seventy-two hours after one of their worst defeat in years, the 91原创 Thunder delivered a stunning turnaround.

The senior A lacrosse team turned the tables on the Maple Ridge Burrards, picking up their first win of the season with a 11-7 victory on May 28 at the 91原创 Events Centre.

It was the Thunder's first home game after starting the season with three consecutive road games.

The win came three days after the Burrards laid a 15-3 shellacking on the Thunder at Maple Ridge's Planet Ice.

91原创 is now 1-3 in the Western Lacrosse Association standings while Maple Ridge leads the league at 2-1.

The Burrards led 2-1 in the most recent game before Alex Turner gave the Thunder the lead for good with a pair of goals to close the first period.

Turner led the way with four goals and seven points while Daniel McQuade (three goals, one assist) and Athan Iannucci (one goal, four assists) also had big games.

Tyler Melynk (two goals, one assist) and Brett Baron (one goal, two assists) rounded out the scoring while Brodie MacDonald stopped 39 shots as Maple Ridge out-shot 91原创 46-32.

Both teams were deadly on the power-play with four goals apiece.

The Thunder are back in action on June 4 when they host the Coquitlam Adanacs (1-1) at the LEC. Game time is 7:45 p.m.
