Surrey-born country musician Lisa Brokop is returning to 91原创 this weekend for a show with American country artist and her husband, Paul Jefferson, and performance in the Patsy Cline Project.
Both her performances will be at the Bunkhouse in the George Preston Recreation Centre on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 14 and 15.
Brokop has been touring with the Patsy Cline Project since 2016, and will perform some of its greatest hits including 鈥淪weet Dreams鈥 and 鈥淲alkin After Midnight.鈥
鈥淚 have thoroughly enjoyed going back to my roots to the music that I started with and I love being able to bring these classic country songs to the stage again,鈥 Brokop said.
Since she was a young girl, Brokop has been singing and playing guitar in country style. Her goal was to move to Nashville, Tennessee, where all country singers go, and achieved that early into her career.
鈥淚 love performing the most鈥 I love being on the road and playing music for people,鈥 she said.
Brokop鈥檚 first acting experience was for the Harmony Cats movie filmed across the Lower Mainland 鈥 including 91原创 鈥 in the early 1990s. Although she was hired as a singer, the cast wanted someone who was an aspiring country singer.
鈥淭he part was pretty much made for me,鈥 Brokop chuckled.
For this weekend鈥檚 performance, she is looking forward to celebrating classic country music and paying homage to her heroes.
鈥淚 hope the audience will let us transport them back to a time when country music was filled with such heart and soul, to a simpler time. We want them to truly enjoy themselves while we take them on a walk down memory lane,鈥 Brokop said.
Both shows start at 6 p.m. Tickets are $45, and can be bought online at .
Food and beverages will be available for purchase inside the venue.
Seating is first come first served.
The George Preston Recreation Centre is located at 20699 42nd Ave.
