Letter: Anti-Trump writer should practise what she preaches

E. Warkentin points out that in eight years under Barack Obama's leadership, the U.S.'s national debt has grown to $19.6 trillion.

Editor: In response to Sheri Hall鈥檚 letter (the Times, Nov. 11), I thought it appropriate that there be a rebuttal to the wild diatribe she penned.

She described herself, among other things, as a compassionate, caring person.

Sheri, read your letter one more time.

Your rant appears to be extremely racist; you say that Americans are frustrated with having to deal with a black president (he was handily elected two times); you mention that the previous president was 鈥渨hite鈥 and that he put Americans billions in debt.

You are correct in saying that the previous 鈥渨hite鈥 president added to the USA鈥檚 national debt.  When he became president in 2000 the USA鈥檚 national debt was $7.6 trillion; when he left office the national debt was $10 trillion.

In the past eight years the USA鈥檚 national debt has grown to $19.6 trillion.

You then refer to 鈥渓azy white males鈥 who were provoked into voting for the president elect. Let us know, in numbers, how many men you personally know and talked to, that actually voted, that felt threatened by the possibility of a woman becoming president.  Pray tell, Sherri, what does gender have to do with it?  What does race or colour have to do with it?

You are the one making it a big issue.

I am white, a father, a compassionate, caring and proud Canadian, self employed (non-lazy, that is) and I am allowed to vote for whomever I wish.

I don鈥檛 require a misinformed rant so that I can follow your line of reasoning and thinking.

At the end of your letter you say that 鈥渄ifference is what unites us.鈥

Practise what you preach.
