Editor: Never before have I sent a letter or responded to a letter in the paper.
However, I feel compelled to respond to the letter of Oct. 26, titled, 鈥淐rosswalk decision calls to mind Fort 91原创 power box debate, written by Mr. Gabriel.
Everyone is entitled to express their own voice and opinion 鈥� that is what conversation is about.
So for those readers who did read Mr. Gabriel鈥檚 letter, and therefore, to those who may read mine; my intention is to correct the misinterpretation of the rainbow crosswalk project, which has been passed by 91原创 Township council and will be painted in Fort 91原创.
Mr. Gabriel points out that the 鈥淩ainbow Crosswalk is intended to honour 54 people slain at the LGBTQ nightclub in Miami.鈥�
No. There is a much bigger picture here. This tragedy may have been a catalyst to spur on the project, but indeed the intention was not to honour just those 54 people.
It is meant to be a symbol of inclusion for all people 鈥� not only LGBTQ, but every race and religion that wants to feel 鈥渁t home鈥� and 鈥渧alued鈥� as a human being in their community.
It鈥檚 just so simple: this project is about love, and loving everyone.
