Editor: My 78-year-old neighbour often has to park far away from the entrance of stores when shopping.
On a recent morning at Costco, a very elderly man assisted by his caregiver was walking ever so slowly with his cane.
He paused and looked at some B.C. shoppers, perfectly healthy, parked in the handicap area.
Being old doesn鈥檛 make you handicapped. And if you are good enough to come across the border, you are good enough to walk from the parking lot like the rest of us.
What鈥檚 with B.C. DMV (Dept. of Motor Vehicles) and SPARC BC (Social Planning and Research Council of B.C.)? Do you hand out handicap parking stickers like candy on Halloween?
My mother is a B.C. resident.
She is so healthy at 76, not requiring handicap signage because of her age.
She walks to the store like everyone else and doesn鈥檛 suffer hypertension or diabetes, because she walks.
Have some respect and manners, B.C. shoppers.
I gave some shoppers a piece of my mind in Burlington and Bellingham for parking in those spots.
Leave those spots for elderly Washington residents who really need it.
