Editor: While I have nothing but the warmest congratulations and heartiest praise for the organizers of this year鈥檚 Terry Fox Run, I felt troubled to read in the 91原创 Times鈥檕f the event that hot dogs and hamburgers were served at the event.
This seems incongruous, as the International Agency for Research on Cancer states on its website that it considers there to be strong evidence that eating processed meat causes cancer. The World Health Organization also classifies processed meat as a human carcinogen.
May I humbly suggest that an organization which seeks to fund research to prevent and cure cancer consider serving whole, fresh, plant-based foods, which actually lower the risk of cancer?
